Want the deep sleep? The lights-out, wake-up-actually-recharged kind? That’s what DSIP gets studied for.
Primary Benefits
- May help promote deeper, more restorative sleep
- May reduce nighttime awakenings and support healthier sleep cycles
- May support nervous system relaxation and stress resilience
- May improve next-day recovery, mood, and cognitive function by improving sleep quality
- Potential application in insomnia, circadian rhythm disruption, and stress-related sleep disturbance (research and experimental use)
Mechanism of Action
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide that was first identified in the brain and linked to deep, slow-wave sleep.
The mechanism isn’t settled yet. Most of what we know comes from rabbit and rat research in the 1970s and 80s, which suggested DSIP acts on sleep-regulating centres in the hypothalamus and brainstem, and may influence multiple neurotransmitter systems, including GABAergic, serotonergic, and noradrenergic pathways.
DSIP may also help regulate certain hormones involved in stress and recovery, such as cortisol and growth hormone, indirectly supporting sleep depth and overall nighttime restoration.
Dosing & Protocol
Subcutaneous (SQ) Injection (preferred)
Reconstitution:
– 5 mg vial → 2.5 mL bacteriostatic water
Nightly Dose
- 100–300 mcg (5–15 units)
Cycle:
– 5–7 nights per week; 4–8 weeks on, then 2–4 weeks off or as directed by your healthcare provider
Timing:
– Administer in the evening, 30–60 minutes before bedtime; take at approximately the same time each night for more consistent results
Potential Side Effects
- Drowsiness or increased sleepiness (intended effect, but may persist into the morning in some individuals)
- Morning grogginess or “sleep hangover,” especially at higher doses
- Vivid dreams or changes in dream intensity
- Mild headache, nausea, or lightheadedness (uncommon)
- Rare: mood changes, restlessness, or paradoxical insomnia in highly sensitive individuals
If side effects occur, users commonly reduce dose or discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
Common Stacks
- With CJC-1295 / Ipamorelin: For combined support of deep sleep, nighttime recovery, and growth hormone release
- With Epitalon: For additional support of circadian rhythm and healthy aging (research applications)
- With Selank: For calming the nervous system and supporting stress resilience alongside improved sleep
- With BPC-157: For recovery protocols where both tissue repair and optimized sleep are desired
Notes
- Injection is subcutaneous into the lower abdomen or another standard SQ site (such as the outer thigh or upper buttock).
- Do not combine DSIP with alcohol, sedative medications, or other strong sleep aids without medical supervision, as excessive sedation may occur.
- Until you know how DSIP affects you, avoid driving or operating machinery after dosing and the next morning if you feel groggy.
- Lyophilized (dry) DSIP vials should be stored in the freezer after arrival for best stability unless the product label or protocol says otherwise.
- After reconstitution, store in the refrigerator and use within 45 days unless the product label or protocol says otherwise.
- If you experience new or worsening mood symptoms, breathing difficulty, chest pain, or other concerning reactions, stop using the product and seek medical attention promptly.
